Water keeps the body hydrated, helps in digestion and absorption of our food and transport throughout the body. Therefore it is very important to replace this water otherwise it will disturb the body balance. Beverage is any kind of liquid intended for human consumption. In addition to their basic function of quenching thirst,These include tea, coffee cocoa and soft drinks beverages


Tea

  • Tea is the second most popular beverage in the world.
  • Tea is a beverage which is made from the processed leaf of a tea plant.
  • The botanical name of this plant is ‘Camellia sinensis‘ 
  • Tea is a very mild stimulant, since it contains caffeine.
  • The caffeine content is lesser than coffee but more than cocoa.
  • It also contains small amounts of tannin compounds, vitamin A, B2 , C, D, K, some minerals and aromatic oils.
  • The tannin compounds and essential oils are mainly responsible for flavor of tea, color, astringency and the delightful aroma.

Process and manufacturing of Tea

How tea is made ? tea manufacturing process and the tea harvest is in following steps

6 steps of tea processing

  1. Plucking — The tea leaves are first plucked from the end of branchlets.
  2. Withering — The plucked leaves are placed on a withering rack (drying). 
  3. Grinding — crushing of  leaves where the enzymes inside the cells are exposed and come in contact with air.
  4. Fermentation and Oxidation — The leaves are then spread on a thin platform and allowed to ferment for 2-6 hours.
  5. Drying — Tea is dried for 30 minutes to several hours in a chamber of hot air.
  6. Screening — After drying tea is cleaned and sorted into various grades.
